“After this meeting I am more encouraged than ever to be apart of Converge MidAmerica’s future.” – Michigan Pastor
Building a shared vision among our 225 churches in and throughout seven states is an enormous task but is critical to the future of our network of churches. So far we have had close to 40 churches represented with numerous staff and lay leaders attending in four locations.
Bryan Moak our new VP of Church Strengthening remarked, “My first impressions of the vision meetings so far is how welcomed I’ve felt by the pastors that have attended, and how genuinely excited they all seem for the direction we are moving as a region. It has given me so much affirmation right off the bat to see and experience such a great group of pastors in our region.”
We have broken down the meeting around three questions:
- Where have we been?
- Where are we now?
- What’s next?
The feedback we are getting has been so helpful and affirming as we together seek out an Antioch Moment just as the leaders in the Ancient Church in Antioch sought out their next move in God’s grand missional plans. (See Acts 13:1-3)
How do we discover our Antioch Moment?
1) Worship, Prayer and Fasting.
The leaders spent time worshiping, praying and fasting together.
I am so thankful that VP Bryan Moak is going to bring some more focused energy to corporate prayer strategy in launching the Prayer First Movement. Prayer is not preparation for the battle. Prayer IS the battle.
2) Having a clear path to run on.
We have been discussing four main missional objectives. The first two focus on individual believers and the second two focus on churches corporately.
- Each one reach one – Evangelism: Philemon 1:6; Ephesians 6:19
- Each one raise one – Reproduction: Matthew 28:19-20; II Timothy 2:2
- Each one start one – Multiplication: Matthew 16:18; Acts 1:8
- Each one send one – Generosity: Acts 13:1-3; Acts 20:35
The feedback to these objectives has been very encouraging. Pastors have been saying these are great objectives to aim for. They are right in the sweet spot of God’s missional desires for us as churches.
3) Taking bold steps of faith together.
Risk taking is never risky when your risks are lined up with the purposes of God. This is why we are asking our churches to take bold risks locally, regionally and globally.
The great feedback we are getting from the Board of Overseers' decision to open a Converge MidAmerica office in Nashville, TN is very encouraging. Pray for Danny and Emili Parmelee as they are moving there this week. Pray for them as they take this big step of faith for our movement.
Another highlight, beyond the great feedback on this ten-year vision plan, is seeing the togetherness in achieving this vision.
Our New VP of Church Planting, Danny Parmelee, observed, "One of the most encouraging aspects of the vision meetings was watching area pastors meet and connect with one another. They were exchanging phone numbers and making plans to meet up. There was a genuine enthusiasm for what's ahead and people caught that we can really only achieve it together."
Yes, Converge is Better Together.
If you have not made a vision meeting, we encourage you to join us.
