Prayer Gathering

By Bryan Moak  |  Vice President of Church Strengthening

In August and September, Converge MidAmerica has been holding Prayer First Pastor Prayer Gatherings throughout the region. Over 50 of our pastors have participated in 7 different gatherings in Chicago, St. Louis, Michigan and Indianapolis. Each meeting was two hours long, and our purpose was…wait for it….to pray! I Timothy 2:1 says, “I urge then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone.” We wanted to gather together as pastors to pray first!

We worshipped God in praise and worship, and then took the vision statement of Converge Worldwide and prayed through it, asking God to move in our communities, our churches and our lives as leaders.

  • Each One Reach One. It was our prayer that the spiritual temperature for evangelism would rise in our churches, and that it would begin with us as pastors.
  • Each One Raise One. We prayed that God would use us as pastors to raise up leaders through mentoring and discipleship.
  • Each One Start One. We prayed for new vision and a new heart for churches to be started throughout our region through planting and multi-campusing.
  • Each One Send One. We prayed that our churches would be sending churches; sending people into the harvest fields as pastors and missionaries in our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the Earth.

We closed our time by praying for each other. We see “Better Together” as more than just a slogan, but a real passion to be a band of brothers that meet with and encourage each other, and all the more as we see the Day approaching! These were each unique, sweet times of worship and prayer, and we believe God was pleased. We’re going to make these gatherings a part of our rhythm as a region, so be looking out for the next round in the months to come
